RJ's Adventures in Temecula by Eva Legre-Zigre

This post is part of a virtual book tour organized by Goddess Fish Promotions. Eva Legre Zigre will be awarding a $25 Amazon/BN gift card to a randomly drawn winner. Click on the tour banner to see the other stops on the tour.

Why do you write juvenile fiction? What draws you to it?

Inspired by years of experience as nanny and a volunteer teacher, she crafts engaging stories that encourage creativity and wonderment in children. Her passion for community, culture and finding beautiful differences in various states throughout the country, gives her the desire to share those unique and exciting places with children.

Pretend your protagonist is at school and opens his/her locker – what will we see inside?

RJ loves visiting different places so you may not believe some of his ‘souvenir’ items. Scattered along the bottom of his locker are rose petals from his visit to the Rose Haven Heritage Garden. He must have placed a rose in their for safe keeping. There is the empty basket he used to collect blueberries at the Temecula Blueberry Co. Mmm. It looks like he has a collection of big and small feathers. Probably from the duck pond and his last visit to Pechanga to watch the Band of Indians. There are some books he checked out from the Temecula Library and the miniature lamb figurine he got when he went to the Sugarplum Zoo and Chocolates. It looks like he ate all of the chocolates. Oh here is the bean bag he won at the Peltzer Farms Funday a few weeks ago. No wonder he doesn’t have room for his school books.

What’s your favorite sweet treat?

I love ice cream. I can walk by most sweet foods but ice cream is not one of them. I love pralines and cream, chocolate and Butter Pecan. Sweet and delectable.

What superpower would you love to have? Why?

I would love to have the power to heal people both physically and mentally. There are so many hurting people in the world and sometimes help is too far away. We are so blessed in this country that we rarely have to travel more than 50 miles to any clinic or hospital, and medicines we sometimes take for granted, like antibiotics, are easy to come by. If I had the power to heal, I would probably go to remote areas to help heal people.

You’re stranded on a desert island—which character from your book do you want with you? Why?

I would definitely want to be with RJ because he would probably make an adventure out of it until we were rescued. I bet I would know everything there was to know about the island, including some of the insects’ names by the time we left.

Create an ice cream flavor. What’s it called?

It would be multiflavored. It would start light and refreshing like a sherbert and go through several flavors before ending in chocolate with hints of toffee and caramel. It would be called “Everyone’s Favorite.”
